Thrive Market is a membership-based online retailer offering organic and natural products at discounted prices. Think Costco but all organic and not sold in bulk. Their mission is to make healthy living accessible and affordable by cutting out traditional retail markups. Basically, you get the wholesale price and Thrive makes it’s money from the subscriptions purchased. I love Thrive and highly recommend it. I’ve been a member with them since 2018.
Pros to Thrive:
- They carry a wide selection of groceries, supplements, beauty items, and household goods.
- They strongly emphasize sustainability and social impact. They have worked hard to have a zero carbon foot print and also for every membership that is purchased, they donate a membership to a family or individual who can’t afford it.
- Free shipping is offered with a minimum $50 purchase.
- You can save a LOT on certain items, specifically supplements. There was a $30 savings on one product I purchased compared to the purchase price in a local brick and mortar store that also offered the product.
- Their customer service is AMAZING… They reply to all email inquiries in less than 24 hours and they stand behind their product. If you don’t like a product or it arrives damaged, they issue a credit back to your account, without hesitation. This is one of the aspects I’ve been most happy with. And in the 9 years I’ve been with them, their communication and customer service has never faltered.
Some Things to be Aware Of:
- As with any online store, Thrive changes it’s suppliers and products due to many reasons, which sometimes means that you may start out buying a product here and then one day, can’t find it. This has happened to me a few times, and I had to start ordering the product directly from the manufacturer. Not a big issue, but disappointing and a small inconvenience if it happens.
- Some of the items are not necessarily clean and organic. For example, they still carry some of the brands of protein powder that were shown in the Harvard study to contain large amounts of heavy metals. So just make sure to do your own research before trying and buying new products.
